So the summer months seem to bring more frequent power outages and so this is becoming irritating. The outage takes out the modem and firewall, but the firewall comes back online first. I'm assuming it tries to obtain an IP from the cable modem but because it is still offline it obviously can't get one. After that pfSense just seems to give up on any hope. I have to manually log in and click 'renew lease'. Naturally a UPS would fix said issue but I feel it should at least try again after a few minutes.

      Any thoughts?

Is it DHCP? What errors do you see logged?

You could be hitting this: https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/9267

This workaround seems like it might work for you if so: https://forum.netgate.com/post/854007

I'll have to double check, but I'm usually in a rush to just get things working again. In the mean time I've followed the workaround you linked to. It makes sense and I think that's what is happening in my case too.

          Thanks so much!
