    Is it possible to run an MQTT broker on the PFSense box?

      With all this processing power to serve one purpose seems like a huge waste for my home network. It would be nice to be able to run an MQTT broker on it as well.

        Could you use HAPROXY (a package available in pfSense), it's very capable and can easily proxy MQTT, plenty of good articles on using HAPROXY with MQTT that all apply equally well to pfSense.

            I'm reading up on HAProxy, it seems to be a load balancer, thus I'll still need to have a dedicate system running MQTT broker?

              @cheapie408 yes, HAPROXY is just a proxy, a super powerful and awesome proxy, but, only a proxy.
