Two separate LAN cards?

I want to try out pfsense.
My dad wanted to through out an old pc.
It is a Pentium model dual core. 4 GB DDR3 ram. 1 TB storage.
My question is, it has one port RJ45 lan card.
Can I buy another one and use it in one of the available slots? Can the Pc work with 2 separate net card?
Also do I understand it correct that the pc storage will be wiped so it is only pfsense on it?

Yes, you can add a 2nd NIC to most PCs and yes, installing pfSense will erase whatever is on the hard drive. One thing though, is you want a 64 bit CPU, as 32 bit CPUs are no longer supported.
