Avahi 2.0.0_2 Package In pfSense Does Not Allow Access To All Config Options
-
Hello everyone,
It appears the Avahi UI in pfSense does not allow users to change all the available config options. I would edit the config file manually but it is overwritten by Avahi. Not to mention the disclaimer at the top of avahi-daemon.conf:
# Do not edit this file, it will be overwritten automatically
For example, I would like to change the setting: allow-point-to-point=yes to: allow-point-to-point=no but that setting reverts back to the default: allow-point-to-point=yes if any saves are made in the Avahi UI section of pfSense. That's just one of many settings not accessible via the Avahi UI in pfSense. Would the developer of this pacakage please change the UI to reflect all the settings available in Avahi? Or is there some other way to prevent those settings from being overwritten?

Yep.
The next best solution is changing this setting directly into script file that builds the Avahi config file.
Keep in mind : this file, and thus your edits, are overwritten when you update the package. Here is that file : /usr/local/pkg/avahi/avahi.inc
See line 43 (as of today - version 2.0.0_2 ).
Change yes for no and your done.Consider proposing a feature request.

Thank you! I will give this a try.
