Resolved: Autoconfig restore backup fails
-
I am setting up a new Netgate XG-7100 (device B) with an existing XG-7100 (device A) config. This is a test scenario to see what happens if I have an actual failure on one of my devices. I follow these instructions to restore the backup to a new XG-7100 (device B):
https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/backup/autoconfigbackup.html
The list of backups appears as expected, but when trying to restore using the device key and decryption password of device A, I get this error:
The following input errors were detected:
The decrypted config.xml is under 50 characters, something went wrong. Aborting.
SHA256 values do not match, cannot restore. 116b898ea650a7cb25b3822c3709051ae25d27ce320b5bb8cab6a9e002b87860 != 9f4b2425aef6890a639bdd1f1af471fcaeb0db8a1d5d01905e93974d15a930dfAdditionally, if I try to simply download the online backup ("show info"), I get this:
The following input errors were detected:
Could not decrypt config.xml
So it seems like something is going wrong with the decryption. I know I have the right password, since it fetches the list, but fails to fetch/ replace.
I am able to manually download a backup from device A and restore it to device B without any problem. However, I need the autoconfig restore to work, since I may not always have access to a manual config backup.
Has anyone run into this issue?

I was using the wrong encryption password. Sorry everyone. It works fine.
