      Good day everyone.

I'm new to pfSense. Today, i tried to change the admin password through the WebGUI User Management. I'm pretty confident that my password is correct however after I tried to re-login, it says that the username or password is incorrect. Tried to restart my pfsense but still I couldn't login.

The only way I can access my pfsense console is through putty. PuTTY can't access the console because I haven't checked the "Enable Secure Shell" on the WebGUI. Any other ways i can do to fix this problem?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thank you. But the current setup of pfSense doesn't support display. It can only be accessed through PuTTY from another computer. The problem is that I can't connect through PuTTY (Server unexpectedly closed the network connection) because maybe I haven't checked the "Enable SSH" in the WebGUI which I can't login.

Because your PW was wrong or because you couldn't login? If you enter your password wrong you'll get blacklisted for 15min(?) so SSH wouldn't work, too.

Did you install headless/serial console or with VGA out? Why not connect directly to console (either serial or local usb keyboard etc.)?

Mmm, if you cannot login to the GUI and haven't enabled SSH your choices are limited.

I assume you don't have any other admin users?

You are going to need physical access of some sort.

@stephenw10 my pfsense is currently installed on a computer. Is it possible to access it through serial port by using usb-to-serial adapter? There is no built-in port on that computer.

SOLVED. I have accessed through PuTTY and have reset the web configurator password. Thank you so much.
