Server SuperServer 5018D-FN8T with 8Gb RAM and 250Gb HD with pfSense.

Hi everyone,
I'm planning purchase two servers:
2 x SuperServer 5018D-FN8T with 8Gb RAM, 250Gb HD and 6Gbe
To mount a hight availability firewall system with pfSense.
Does anyone know if pfSense works well over this hardware and tell me a good feedback?
Regards and thanks so much.

That box should be fine. It's a little bit of old processor tech in there, but it seems closely spec'd to the Netgate 15XX series high-end units.
Here's a conversation in the forum from early-2017 about it:
https://forum.netgate.com/topic/114185/i-bought-a-supermicro-5018d-fn8t-the-chronicles-edited-titleLooks like there's some tweaking that may need to be done, down near the bottom of that thread.

@akuma1x thanks so much by your answer. Do you know and can you tell me any new similar hardware that works fine with new versions of pfSense in high availability?
Best regards

What's your budget?

@akuma1x I think that I could have about 1000€ of budget by each similar machine to that of this post.

Have you looked at the HA option for the Netgate XG-7100?

Hi @ramses-sevilla - I have been using this exact system with pfSense and a symmetric 1Gbit fiber connection since early 2017. Zero problems since then and have been impressed with the performance of the machine. Hope this helps.
