So, building A has a "Netgate APU" with AMD G-T40E Processor
2 CPUs: 1 package(s) x 2 core(s) and 2.4.4-RELEASE-p3 (amd64). We need to link it to building B where there will be 4-5 users. We planned to put up a P2P link and use a SG-3100-EU at building B. Would this be a sensible choice? Or would an SG-1100 work equally well here?

Fiber speed. I am trying to get the specifics from the people that administer the house.

When traffic is leaving your building you want to encrypt it.
              Therefore I'd go for a SG-5100.

@AndersG said in Suitable hardware for small office P2P link:

to put up a P2P link

So your are doing this via say a fiber run, just cat 5? A wireless link? Your not doing this via vpn over the public internet.

Well then comes down to what vpn performance you need and what your internet speed is.. The sg1100 is not going to be able to handle as much openvpn traffic as say the 3100 or 5100... If I recall what I have seen about 80-100mbps is about the best you can expect over openvpn... You could do ipsec vs openvpn, but not sure what the performance on that is.
