Hi, I want to install pfsense on my fortigate 80c, Can anyone help me ount in this..??
-
Looks like its possible as the processor is a Celeron. But the CPU seems to be 600mhz and any encryption used on the device (vpn's) would be stunningly slowww.. according to what Ive just read.

Moved to pfSense > Hardware.
Is that a 32bit Celeron? You have a boot log from FortiOS or anything?

this is what i get in system information...
-
That a processor that dates from before 2000.
My advise : don't waste your time on it. -
i just want to use it for few pc's only, just want to install pfsense... But unable to to do that...!!
-
@Gertjan previously we are using it for 50 pc's, but now we want to use it for only 4 machines

Unable ?
Rather a logic outcome when you want to use very ancient hardware.
Your processor is probably "32 bits".
pfSense should be 32 bits also in that case. If you can get your hands on an ancient version like 2.3.5 it might work. -
It seems hard to imagine it's actually Covington. If only because there is no 600MHz Covington model.
But it will be 32bit only and as such cannot run current pfSense.
I would look at the x86 version of OpenWRT for something like that if you really want to use it.
Most Fortigate hardware relies on ASICs to off load routing and firewall functions, the CPU really only runs the interface. If this is designed like that you might not be able to use it at all.

@stephenw10 Thank you stephen, can you please guide me how to install openwrt in the fortinet device, i have no clue hoe=w to do that
-
@mithundeb this forum doesn't have any 'dd-wrt' knowledge. What about looking it up here ?
-
Yeah, I would ask on the OpenWRT forum: https://forum.openwrt.org/
But.... get the x86 image. Try to make it boot from it. Check the console output toi see what it working and what isn't. Make changes as necessary.
