[SOLVED] No available packages
-
I am running 2.4.4-RELEASE-p3 on my SG-1100. The package manager was working fine until recently. Now no packages are available for download. Previously I configured OpenVPN and was able to install "openvpn-client-export". Aside from the package manager issue everything appears to be working correctly.
If I attempt to upgrade the package cache manually with "pkg update" I get the following output:
Updating pfSense-core repository catalogue...

These files :
/usr/local/bin/ping-auth.sh /usr/local/sbin/ping-auth -s
don't exist on my 2.4.4-p3 (AMD64).
Neither is folder :
/etc/thoth/
Normally, when pfSense can't contact the upgrade/update and package server the DNS on pfSense isn't set up "well".
Take your pick pfsense can't update site:forum.netgate.com

Not sure what to make of this - those files are not on my pfsense install. nor is that folder..
That seems to be unique to sg1100?
https://forum.netgate.com/topic/142705/unable-to-retrieve-package-information-on-netgate-sg-1100-with-pfsense-2-4-4_2Per that thread Chris asked for them to open a ticket, with that info. Did you do that?

@Gertjan said in No available packages:
don't exist on my 2.4.4-p3 (AMD64).
They are specific to the SG-1100

Ok,
Anyway, these tools seem to bail out.https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/install/upgrade-troubleshooting.html

Thank you for the replies.
I was able to ping via the diagnostic tool to google.com and youtube.com so I believe DNS is functioning correctly. Also this isn't related to a pfsense version upgrade. The SG-1100 appliance was delivered with 2.4.4-RELEASE-p3 so I have not performed a version upgrade with the unit.
Thank you for the reply jimp. I will open a support ticket tonight.

I have created the following ticket:

In case anyone finds this thread via search, my issue was resolved. Support provided the factory restore images. I restored my pfsense unit to factory default and restored my full configuration backup. Everything worked as it had before and the package manager is now functional. All in all the repair was fairly painless taking a total of about 90 minutes for the actual repair and reading through the steps.
