VLAN DHCP Client Issues
-
I setup a VLAN after getting a new AP today that allowed VLAN tagging and tagged everything accordingly and all devices on the main wifi that talk to the DHCP server on pf are doing well, but when trying a test device(android phone) it connects, successfully auths, then gets stuck on "obtaining IP" so I went to the trusty logs and I was able to see the client discovery by the DHCP server and that the DHCP offered an IP from the VLAN(also tried setting a static IP and saw the same entries) while the client just sits with "obtaining". This is my first run with pfsense and VLANs so may have setup something wrong or missed a setup step or its just the android phone being a pain. Figured the brain power on here would be able to help resolve or identify the issue.
Update: I used an iPad as another test and what I see when connecting to the new AP is a DISCOVER and OFFER, but when connecting back to the main wifi I see one more entry REQUEST so I am guessing this is the issue but not sure how to fix that.

Did you configure the DHCP server for the VLAN? Each interface requires it's own DHCP configuration.

@JKnott Yes, after setting up the VLAN I chose an interface then went to DHCP and setup the range, DNS etc... I think if I did not set it up I would not see the offer of the address as no range no IP to offer.
EDIT: So to give detail, i setup the VLAN and chose a number etc..., chose an interface for the new VLAN, went to the interface and enabled it and gave it a static IPv4 address and subnet, then went to DHCP and enabled the DHCP server and set a range and DNS and saved it.

pfsense was all good, did some reading and more reading and then tried a tiny mod to the AP config and success.
