Hurricane Electric tunnel fallback with 2 Internet WANs
-
I use HE for IPv6 provision. When one of the WANs fails IPv4 traffic automatically switches to the other WAN, I would like to do the same for IPv6 traffic. I know how to make HE change its IPv4 to point to my other WAN.
However I cannot see how to configure pfSense. The GIF interface for HE is tied to a Specific Interface. Is there a way to make it float between the 2 WANs? -
Good question.
I was able to crate a second GIF interface, using exactly the same settings as the first one - interface "WAN" included. You will be using "WAN2".
I could assign an interface for this GIF interface.
I could declare it as a possible IPv6 gateway.I stopped here.
I couldn't test more : I don't have a double WAN.As you stated already, the opposite "tunnel.he.net" IPv4 tunnel end will refuse to talk to our 'other' WAN IPv4, you have to switch over using the DDNS facilities.

Tried adding the second GIF, it brought the HE link down. The Gateway status only showed one HE.
Removed the extra GIF to restore normal operation.
Thanks
