what name to which network port?
-
We have just purchased a Netgate XG-7100 1U. Besides IX0 and IX1 which we don't use, there are 8 network ports from ETH1 to Eth8 in XG-7100 1U.
When I install pfsense, pfSense can find:WAN (wan) -> lagg0.4090 ->
LAN (lan) -> lagg0.4091 -> v4: 10.0.1.254/24
OPT1 (opt1) -> ix0 ->
OPT2 (opt2) -> ix1 ->The output of ifconfig is:

How can I find devices in pfSense that are corresponding to ETH1 to ETH8 in XG-7100? -
You installed pfSense and you did not see how to select WAN and LAN ???
Anyway ...
Using the most important access, the console / SSH access.
Login - on menu, go option 8.Now, plug in a live RJ45.
You'll see a LINK-UP announcement on the login screen.
Rip it out and you see a LINK DOWN message.
With the port driver name like em0 or ix1. -
The Eth ports on the XG-7100 are connected via the internal switch. You can configure them however you wish but by default Eth1 is WAN (lagg0.4090) and Eth2-Eth8 are LAN (lagg0.4091).
See: https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/solutions/xg-7100-1u/switch-overview.htmlYou can also use the
etherswitchcfg
command to see the current switch config from the command line.Steve
