Newbie with XG-7100 - Help troubleshooting
I have a XG-7100 that's been upgraded with a "16 GB DDR4" and a "SATA M.2 2280SS SSD" (both made by Crucial), thereafter flashed with the official image from Netgate support. Every few days the firewall is "crashes" and is not accessible via the web interface.
Any tips on troubleshooting for a newbie?
you should be able to connect with the serial cable
follow this instruction when it crash again
Faulty or incompatible RAM?
I never had any crash with one of my XG-7100. First I'd reload the image again and try a very basic setup without any packages.
@kiokoman I connected via the console cable. The unit was non-responsive. I had to manually power down the XG-7100, then the console came up.
@Rico Is there a way to refresh all packages before reloading from scratch?
Reloaded the system with the factory image created on a Linux system using the dd command. Did a restore with the packages. It did not like that! Reloaded and did a restore without packages. It came right up. A day later it crashed.
Rebooted and the system was not responsive on the console and the fans were at maximum. Rebooted again. Same thing.
Disconnected power and removed the Crucial CT16G4SFD824A (16GB DDR4-2400) memory and the system came back up.
