Disable Firewall Disable all packet filtering in PFsence

Hi all,

I want to use PfSense as router. Hence I install FRR package and disable firewall function in PfSence to enhance the pfsense routing performance. Can I still have some basic PfSence protection after checked "Disable all packet filtering in PFsence"? for example SSH, Web GUI access from specific IP address..etc

Protection in what sense?

Disabling the firewall in System > Advanced > Firewall & NAT disables pf entirely so you cannot filter traffic at all. The webgui and SSH will be open to any source IP.

@tomli I am about to setup an environment similar to you with FRR running BGP. just wondering what is your final setup?

I do not disable the firewall function in PFsence. Disable the function will lose the basic protection for my firewall.
