      Hey all,

      Just when i thought the rest would go smoothly now it cant find my network ports any more.
      I had this running with pfsense before, then when i moved i tried a different firewall software, and now have decided to switch back. I can see the lights on the port when i plug in a Ethernet cable but it just cant find here.

      my hardware: https://qotom.net/product/35.html

        pfSense is not Linux, those commands won't work.

        It should show the network cards detected in the boot log. They should also appear as pci devices if you run: pciconf -lv

          Hi Steve,

          Apparently that command does not exist:

            You are trying to enter it at the boot loader and not in the OS. Enter boot -s to boot to single user mode from there and then try running pciconf -lv.

            Also you can attach images directly here. Going through Mega for one photo at a time is.... painful!

              Ah yes, i was entering at boot,
              Yes mega is painful but when i try to upload here there is a 2mb limit, so i reduce the image to below 2mb(made it 1.87mb) and get the error, "request entity too large", so i use my mega so i can at least show you the images
              Here are the results:

                Make that

                pciconf -l

                The info searched for, like :

                em3@pci0:3:3:1: class=0x020000 card=0x117a8086 chip=0x10798086 rev=0x03 hdr=0x00
                    vendor     = 'Intel Corporation'
                    device = '82546GB Gigabit Ethernet Controller'
                    class      = network
                    subclass   = ethernet

                is probably there, but you're not fast enough taking the photo.

                This is what you are looking for :

                    class      = network
                    subclass   = ethernet

                You'll be looking for (my five nics) :

                em0@pci0:3:2:0: class=0x020000 card=0x00db0e11 chip=0x10108086 rev=0x03 hdr=0x00
                em1@pci0:3:2:1: class=0x020000 card=0x00db0e11 chip=0x10108086 rev=0x03 hdr=0x00
                em2@pci0:3:3:0: class=0x020000 card=0x117a8086 chip=0x10798086 rev=0x03 hdr=0x00
                em3@pci0:3:3:1: class=0x020000 card=0x117a8086 chip=0x10798086 rev=0x03 hdr=0x00
                fxp0@pci0:3:8:0:        class=0x020000 card=0x01ab1028 chip=0x27dc8086 rev=0x01 hdr=0x00

                Edit : and where are the logs ??

                        Yeah, they are not showing as PCIe devices. Make sure they are enabled in the BIOS. That's about the only thing that could prevent them appearing there.
                        Compared to a similar system that list is very short. You may have other things missing.
