How to set boot up display resolution ?
-
Hopefully a simple question....
I'm a complete newbie to FreeBSD, my background is with Debian/Ubuntu/Mint.
I've installed pfsense on a Wyse Z90D7 box. When I power up, if I do nothing the video display briefly shows the power up activity, then is completely scrambled. I have no video monitors (I have quite a few) that will display anything usable.
If I hit the Escape key, then type 'gop set 3', press Enter, then type 'boot' and press Enter, I get a usable display that boots to the console menu. How do I do this automatically ? I've seen comments about editing /boot/rc.conf and /boot/loader.rc.local etc. but cannot see how to do this from pfsense.
Can someone please provide (very) simple instructions for sorting this problem, or point me to some instructions to achieve this ?
Thanks in advance

Wyse Z90D7
Greetings from the Future!
Doubtless you have solved your resolution question, but how is/was the Wyse Z90D7 performing with pfSense? I just stumbled upon the unit on EBay.

Hi,
No, I never did solve the display problem, fortunately I've only once needed it and just did a hard reset instead.
The Z90D7 is brilliant with pFsense. I have it set up with a TP-Link 5 port managed hub using one direct network connection to the Z90D7, four V-Lans (WAN + 3 x LANs) and two WiFi networks (Home + Guest) using the built in WiFi card. I use pFsense for all DHCP, DNS, firewall rules and schedules and it manages four Gigabit networks and a 75Mbps broadband connection with no hassle. The only thing I have noticed is the web DNS lookup seems to be slightly slower than using IpFire with four dedicated network ports on an HP microserver. My usage is not particularly demanding (home use) although I shift quite few video files around (editing etc.) and have a teenager with permanently attached mobile devices used mainly for gaming and social networking :-(
I have two Z90D7s, both bought from 'connie100779' on eBay with no problems.Hope that helps
