No WAN IP from Arris TG2492LG in Bridged Mode
marpfsense last edited by marpfsense
I'm having the same problem here with pfsense 2.4.4-p3. I have done a factory reset but the WAN interface is still not getting the public IP from the Arris TG2492LG cable modem.
When the Arris modem is in Router mode, DNS is intermittent.
This was a clean install.
Hardware is the Protectli FW108120.

PfSense should never recognize the modem in bridge mode. It's supposed to be transparent. It sounds like the problem is upstream. Put a computer directly on the modem, in bridge mode, and see what happens. If you're worried about attacks, etc., you can use a live Linux USB stick or disc.
The computer gets the public IP from the modem when in bridged mode.
I have the same modem but with a different software at other locations. Those modems are in modem mode so the pfSense behind each gets the public IP from the modem.
Run a packet capture on the WAN, see what's actually coming back, if anything.
Try assigning a different interface as WAN.
Try spoofing the MAC address of the client that get the IP correctly.
@stephenw10 I will do as you suggested. Will provide a feedback shortly.
Apologies for the delay, the quarantine is real.

I think I might be having a similar problem to you using an arris TM1602.
