Just installed pfsense version 2.4.4-RELEASE-p3. I'm installing this specifically for the purpose of using it as a vpn server. I've been able to get everything configured but I want to be able to use the openvpn-client-export utility to create the necessary configuration files for any respective clients. When I go to the Package Manager and select Available Packages I can see the openvpn-client-export option. So I click Install and Confirm. The installation fails. It appears to be failing to resolve the location where it expects the packages to be located. It's trying to get them from here:

      https://pkg.pfsense.org/pfSense_v2_4_4_amd64-pfSense_v2_4_4/All/openvpn-client-export-2.4.8.txz

If I attempt to use wget to download that file on a separate machine, it also fails.

Not sure what to do at this point if the package is no where to be found. Any help would be appreciated.

you can't use wget, It's resolved using SRV records.probably a routing problem.

        https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/install/upgrade-troubleshooting.html#pkg-pfsense-org-has-no-a-aaaa-record

Just step through everything on https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/install/upgrade-troubleshooting.html -- all the errors and fixes are covered there.

        is it a virtual machine?

Yeah, it's a virtual machine. And it's behind my physical Cisco 3925 router; which is the actual device connected to the internet. I setup the Cisco router to allow the pfsense VM to access the internet. I also setup the Cisco router to port forward incoming traffic on port 1194 to the pfsense VM. That's the only incoming port forward rule I've configured. Is there anything else I should configure in order for this to work? Thanks for your help.

No, it's not proxmox. It's running in a VMware vSphere 6.7 environment. At the moment I don't have access to the environment to try any of the suggestions that kiokoman provided. I'll report back when I can.

                All,

I've been able to get it installed. Apparently my internet connection was so slow that the web interface was timing out before it could download it in time. I was able to get it installed using the command line instead. Next I need to work out why my internet has gone to crap.

                Thanks all.
