How to bridge my ISP IPv6 to my LAN ?
-
Hey everyone,
I just have set up a new pfSense router successfully, and it works absolutely terrific as long as IPv4 is concerned.
My setup :
em0 --> WAN --> DHCPv4 from ISP (MAC address based) + DHCPv6 from ISP (MAC address based)
em1 --> LAN --> DHCPv4 10.0.0.1/16 + IPv6 enabledI am only getting a link-local IPv6 address on the client devices connected to my pfSense router, and I am unable to reach any IPv6 address from behind the router.
How can I make pfSense route IPv6 ? Or better yet is it possible to directly bridge my WAN IPv6 to my LAN, so that the ISP directly assigns IPv6 to my client devices ?
(Network noob, apologies for any stupidity.)

Is your modem in gateway mode? If so, you'll want to put it in bridge mode. Then you will likely have to use DHCPv6-PD. What ISP are you on? Perhaps someone here has experience with them. Also, what is your ISP? I get a /56 prefix, which provided 256 /64s.

Yes. My fiber ONT is in bridge mode. I directly receive a static IPv4 address based on my MAC.As far as the IPv6 is concerned, I receive 2409:4023:4e8d:b0d3:7ca2:e375:aefc:xxxx/64 on the IPv6 stack.
Earlier, I used RT-AC53U on Static IPv4 and Stateless DHCPv6 and it worked absolutely fine, all my devices had public IPv6 routable addresses.

Is that the WAN address?
Have you enabled IPv6 on the LAN? There's a setting where you set "Track IPv6 Interface" and set it to WAN. Have you done that?
Again, who is your ISP? There could be someone else here, who is better able to help. I'm on Rogers.

@JKnott
Yes. That is my WAN IP address.
And I did try setting my LAN to Track Interface WAN.I'm from India and my ISP is Reliance Jio.

And the result?

No, it tracking my LAN interface to WAN also did not work.

Did the ISP provide configuration info?
