any time I reboot my pfsense, whether due to update or just because I had to, the unbound service doesn't start, I have to go into the web UI and start it manually.

i have NO idea why this is happening. its been doing this for the past half dozen updates, probably longer. I just installed 2.4.5 and boom, again.

fyi, after this 2.4.5 upgrade, here's the console log ...

@LeftCoastGeek said in Unbound -never- starts on a reboot:

        Starting DNS Resolver...done.

        It started.

Check the DNS logs to find out why/when it stopped, was restarted, and what was pfSense doing a couple of seconds just before that. What happened when it restarted. etc.

No "help me" PM's please. Use the forum, the community will thank you.
Edit : and where are the logs ??

I've looked at that stuff before and not found anything out of the ordinary

            So you're say it's just dying ?

Go to console ssh option 8 and type :

            ps ax | grep unbound

            ....
            68283 - Ss 0:23.59 /usr/local/sbin/unbound -c /var/unbound/unbound.conf
            ...
