Freeradius no longer allows :'s in usernames in 2.4.5
-
Hi. After upgrading to 2.4.5 (including the freeradius package), I can not longer add : delimited MAC address in the username field. PFSense says: "The 'Username' field may only contain a-z, A-Z, 0-9, underscore, period and hyphen (regex /^[a-zA-Z0-9_.-]*$/)." I am pretty sure this was not the case before, because I have a lot of MAC addresses with :'s in them that area lrady in freeradius.
The reason I use :'s and not -'s is that in the DHCP leases listing in PFsense, MAC addresses are reported out using :'s. So I can cut adn past from the MAC address in the DHCP leases into the freeradius configuraion.
This is part of how I use MAC based VLAN assignment in Unifi for devices, where I can keep a common WPA2-PSK password for the SSID, but still map devices by MAC address into the proper VLAN.
In looking over the freeradius release notes, I see no issue with :'s being removed, so I am thinking this is somehow a PFSense regression.
Am I missing something here?
Thx

There is already an issue open for that -- https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/10385
Drop a note on there mentioning the MAC address issue so it doesn't get missed

Done.
