      Hi,

      First time I have logged into the forums. I have a question. I am trying to learn pfSense and use it as a home firewall among other things it can do. I am really impressed with what this can do.

      My existing setup:

      Routing tables:

      Internet:
      Destination Gateway Flags Netif Expire
      default 192.168.20.2 UGS em1
      64.x.x.224/27 link#1 U em0
      64.x.x.241 link#1 UHS lo0
      127.0.0.1 link#4 UH lo0
      192.168.20.0/23 link#2 U em1
      192.168.20.2 link#2 UHS lo0

      Internet6:
      Destination Gateway Flags Netif Expire
      ::1 link#4 UH lo0
      fe80::%em0/64 link#1 U em0
      fe80::250:56ff:fe92:5357%em0 link#1 UHS lo0
      fe80::%em1/64 link#2 U em1
      fe80::250:56ff:fe92:5358%em1 link#2 UHS lo0
      fe80::%lo0/64 link#4 U lo0
      fe80::1%lo0 link#4 UHS lo0

      GUI Interface:
      WAN:
      Static IPv4 Configuration
      IPv4 Address 64.x.x.241 /27
      IPv Upstream gateway GW_WAN-64.x.x.225

      LAN:
      Static IPv4 Configuration
      IPv4 Address 192.168.20.2 /23
      IPv Upstream gateway Blank

      I can't get the gw to be the WAN insted of the LAN

      I saved everything and then I even rebooted.

      Can anyone give me a clue as to what I am doing wrong here.
      TIA.

        So you didn't set an IP on your lan interface gateway??.. So show us your gateway page..

        This really should of been automatic... But have no idea what you did

        gateways.jpg

        IPv Upstream gateway GW_WAN-64.x.x.225

        This look to me like you manually setup a gateway?? Vs just setting it when you put in the IP of your wan interface.

          I did this piece with netstat -rn:

          Routing tables:

          Internet:
          Destination Gateway Flags Netif Expire
          default 192.168.20.2 UGS em1
          64.x.x.224/27 link#1 U em0
          64.x.x.241 link#1 UHS lo0
          127.0.0.1 link#4 UH lo0
          192.168.20.0/23 link#2 U em1
          192.168.20.2 link#2 UHS lo0

          Internet6:
          Destination Gateway Flags Netif Expire
          ::1 link#4 UH lo0
          fe80::%em0/64 link#1 U em0
          fe80::250:56ff:fe92:5357%em0 link#1 UHS lo0
          fe80::%em1/64 link#2 U em1
          fe80::250:56ff:fe92:5358%em1 link#2 UHS lo0
          fe80::%lo0/64 link#4 U lo0
          fe80::1%lo0 link#4 UHS lo0

          GUI Interface:
          WAN:
          Static IPv4 Configuration
          IPv4 Address 64.x.x.241 /27
          IPv Upstream gateway GW_WAN-64.x.x.225

          LAN:
          Static IPv4 Configuration
          IPv4 Address 192.168.20.2 /23
          IPv Upstream gateway Blank

          I can't get the gw to be the WAN insted of the LAN

            You have your default gateway set to your lan.. So clearly you setup that up somehow.. Delete it and point to your wan.,.

            See the little trashcan icon...

                I'm pretty much at a loss to how you could of done that.. Clearly not paying any attention to what it was telling you when you set it up.. Since it clearly states not to create a gateway on your lan.. It warns you every where not to put a gateway on your lan.. The console if you edit the interface or assignments, the setup wizard, and even on the gui just editing the interface..

                lan.jpg

                Just at a loss here how you shot your self in the foot like that.. Like the gun had safety on, trigger lock, barrel plug and not even loaded.. You and still managed to shoot off your baby toe ;)

                  That's me. If I can mess something up, I will. I do know not to set a gateway on the LAN,. I couldn't figure out out it was set that way. I didn't know about the other place it could be set, I was trying to find it in interfaces with no luck. At least I will definitely remember that for future installs. Again, thanks very much for your help. I do appreciate it! BTW, I foot still hurts :-)
