Where is download link for v2.4.4p3?
-
As part of the upgrade guide: https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/install/upgrade-guide.html#prepare-a-fall-back-plan
It states this:
The worst case scenario on upgrading is a FreeBSD regression that prevents the firewall from booting successfully, or no longer communicating with the network. In this case, reinstall from a CD or Memstick for the previous release. Download the appropriate image and have it ready before starting the upgrade procedure.
I currently have v2.4.4p3 installed. I have a config backup and should things go bad, I need to re-install 2.4.4_3. Where is the link to download this version?

Hi,
Not the official source, but try here : http://linorg.usp.br/pfsense/downloads/
True.
Download the appropriate image and have it ready before starting the upgrade procedure.
This should be done before a new version come out - or some time after you installed a new version.
Or : when you over write the install media (USB key) you should backup it, so you use it if needed. -
Unfortunately @Gertjan the link you posted does not have v2.4.4p3. And yes, I agree I should have downloaded the version after I upgraded via the UI last year.

Consider upgrading to 2.4.5 anyway.
I'm using
and did not have any issues. It was a click and go solution, as always.
I did follow the advised upgrade rules, as mentioned by the Netgate's / pfSense manual.
And maybe on some backup @home I do have a 2.4.4-p3 backup .... I'm not sure.Note : stays away from the 'squid/snort family should help a lot.
edit : a clean pfSense 2.4.5 will work just fine. That's for sure.

Maybe I wasn't clear... that is what I'm trying to do is upgrade to 2.4.5.
Step 1: Make sure you have a current backup (done)
Step 2: Make sure you have the ISO install that matches your backup version. In my case 2.4.4p3. (Not done since I can't find that version)And yes, it's "almost" always worked for me in the past. But I've been around long enough to know that the most important step when doing any IT upgrades is to have a well thought-out backout plan. It's the "it works for everyone else" and "it only takes 10 minutes to upgrade" that can lead to trouble.
You never need a backout plan.... Until you do.
I'll likely have to risk it at some point since the older version doesn't seem to be accessible.
-
With the same warning as above about downloading software from an untrusted site.... use at your own risk.
I found a source of what I was looking for:
https://clonos.ca.ircdriven.net/iso/pfSense-CE-2.4.4-RELEASE-p3-amd64.iso.gz -
What is that image? Serial console? VGA console? Does anyone know the checksums for 2.4.4-p3? I wouldn't touch those without checking.

Take a look here https://files.pfsense.org/hashes/

You should of had a copy of the install well before you were thinking of upgrading ;)
For example make sure you keep a copy of the 2.4.5 version.. I have versions going back to 2.3.4.. Which I could purge for sure.. I am quite sure never going to need to install those..
If you have a netgate appliance you can open a ticket, and they will send you a link to your current installed version.. I tested this for my 4860, before upgrade.. They maintain a nextcloud instance they share the files from ;)
They were very responsive.. lets see here
