SG-1100: No NAT; No Console Access
-
I set up my SG-1100 about a year ago and had it running continuously since (plugged into a UPS). Yesterday, my entire LAN went out. [I initially assumed it was my ISP.] Eventually, internet access came back, but some things were still broken. Looking around, I found that all of the systems on the LAN had WAN internet addresses (47.14.77...) instead of LAN (192.168...). I rebooted the SG-1100 a few times; no change. I tried to access the SG via the web page, but got timeouts - possibly because its IP address had changed. I removed the SG (and put back the cheapo TP-Link router that I used before). I tried to access the console via USB cable on the same Windows 8 laptop that I used when I set it up (when I found out that the "reset" button does no such thing; it just reboots it). Instead of "Ports (COM & LPT) -> Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm port (COMn)" in the Windows Device Manager, I get: "Other -> USB Serial Controller D". There's no driver; no way to connect to it. [It had worked just as described in the instructions when I did this a year ago from the same laptop.] So, it appears that the SG is royally screwed up. It isn't behaving like a router, and there's no console access. Has it become a doorstop, or can it really be reset somehow? [When powered up, the green light comes on right away and stays on.]
