      Hi @all,

after the update to 2.4.5 I cannot activate DHCP relay service.

In the logs I find the message: No suitable downstream interfaces found for running dhcrelay!

Is there an other solution than proposed on reddit -> downgrade?

      Thanks,
      Bernd

What interfaces do you have selected for use by DHCP Relay?

Also the Reddit post you linked involved an OpenVPN TAP bridge. You do not need DHCP relay on a TAP bridge.

It is the LAN interface plus two VLANs serving as different LANs.
The dhcp-server is configured for all three.

Show exactly what you have chosen in the GUI, and which subnets are in use on each interface, along with the DHCP server address.

                Ok.
                selected:
                LAN1: 192.168.1.0/24 - interface (em0): 192.168.1.1
                LAN2: 192.168.2.0/24 - interface (em0.2): 192.168.2.1
                LAN3: 192.168.3.0/24 - interface (em0.3): 192.168.3.1

                Three server addresses:
                192.168.1.2
                192.168.2.2
                192.168.3.2

                Would you prefer GUI screenshots?

That makes no sense for DHCP Relay. If there is a DHCP server address in each subnet, why are you running DHCP relay? It's unnecessary.

You only need to relay when there is a server in one subnet (e.g. 192.168.1.2) and it needs to provide DHCP service for other remote subnets it isn't directly connected to (e.g. 192.168.2.0/24 and 192.168.3.0/24).

If your DHCP server is multi-homed in each segment then there is no need for a relay.

                    Allright then.
I thought I would need one as soon as gateway and dhcp-server are not on the same server... So thank you, I've learned something.

I am having the same problem?

But in my case I have only one DHCP on another router in the same subnet.....(Two different ISP's)

And I need the Pfsense to use the DHCP on the other router.... So I would think I still need this relay?
                      It worked fine before upgrading
Hope you also can help me (See no reason to do another post about the same service)
