      Hi,
I've been running pfSense on Hyper-V stable for a number of years. However, on updating to 2.4.5 from 2.4.4-p3 it freezes and never completes (see snapshot below). Any ideas on the cause/fixes?

Upgrading from 2.4.4-p3 to 2.4.5 involves not one package.
        More like 200 or so.

        Re install.

I've tried upgrading a number of times. All with the same result. Do you mean start from base config? If so, I've never been able to re-apply the configuration file successfully. Any Ideas?

BTW -- the upgrade (viewing from the console upgraded MANY packages and took more than 20 minutes. Only after packages are updated and rebooting it stops at the firewall config step.

What do you mean ? in the past, importing the config.xml into the GUI doesn't work for you ?

              Your system boots ?
If so, use the console access, stop the booting, goto single user mode, copy out the /conf/config.xml file.
The pfSense manual explains it all.

ng it stops at the firewall config step.

Just a wild guess (your posts do not give any info) : check your NIC's attributed to the pfSense VM.
If no NIC's I can undertstand that the firewall part freaks out.
              Again, just a guess.

I wouldn't even bother long time. Create a new VM 'by the book'.

Mmm, we'd need to seem more of the boot output I think to know.

If you can install and boot 2.4.5 OK but then when you restore your config it fails that seems more like a config issue.
Does it fail in exactly the same way when you do that?

                Steve
