      Hello everybody,

i'm looking for a sample configuration for connecting an ISP connection (2 ports with the same IP range) via VRRP to a existing Netgate XG-7100 1U pair in CARP mode. Is that possible?
It is a completely new installation!

      Thanks for any information,
      Regards,
      Norbert

pfSense does not support VRRP directly but you;re just adding a new uplink to an existing HA pair you should just be able to do that with CARP in the usual way. Does the upstream router require anything special here?

I don't know that at the moment, I'm currently still operating a single pfsense on one connection (1 WAN port without VRRP), which is now being converted to VRRP with two WAN ports. I would like to use the new XG-7100 pair with the two new VRRP WAN ports of the provider for reliability. I'm just going to try? I read that apparently a lot of VRRP log entries are created?

          Thanks for further answers!

The ISP is providing you with at least 3 IPs?
I would not expect the ISPs VRRP they might be using on their side of the link to cause a problem for CARP at your side as long as you use different VHIDs.
It kind of sounds like they are expecting something more from your end of the link but that could be just an interpretation issue. 😉
            More info needed really.

That is correct, the XP-7100 couple gets 3 public ip addresses, the two VRRP routers of the provider also get 2 ip addresses from the same area and they can both act together on the IP range that we have been granted.

I would configure that as a standard interface for an HA pair and see what happens. Troubleshoot it if there are issues.
