With the heavy community migration from OpenVPN to Wireguard, and with VPN being so important to work-from-home lately, I recommend that VPN become its own subcategory under the Packages category.

The Wireguard package (https://forum.netgate.com/topic/150943/i-made-a-wireguard-package-for-pfsense) is one such project deserving of considerably more visibility.

        Really .....

Since there is a pfSense® Software category I assume it will be added there when "the time is right".

        Edit:
        Corrected category.

I gloomily came to the ironic conclusion that if you take a highly intelligent person and give them the best possible, elite education, then you will most likely wind up with an academic who is completely impervious to reality.

When it's done properly, Wireguard will not be a package, so this is unnecessary.

@jimp I haven't seen anything in the FreeBSD community suggesting they are going to integrate it into the kernel as Ubuntu has, if that's what you're referring to. As it currently stands it's a pkg install of a userland go application, and it seems the FreeBSD community has no issues with that. Is pfSense going to approach it differently?

The userland application is a dead end. Not worth expending effort on. It can never perform up to standards, and has had stability issues.
