DHCP suddenly stoped working on all interfaces
-
Running pfsense 1.2.2
This is a description of a solved problem and a proposal. Some days ago DHCP stoped working after a powerdown.
After a couple of hours of searching I had to temporarily replace the fw with a SOHO router.
Today I found the problem:
A couple of weeks ago I changed the IP on a unused interface.
All seemed fine and everything was ok. What I should have done was to also change the IP-range on the DHCP.
What happened was that the DHCP stoped working next time the DHCP-server reloaded.
This had consequences on all other interfaces.
This might be an obvious place to check, but my lack of experience prevented me from finding this right away.Bottom line:
MANUALLY CHECK THE DHCP WHEN CHANGING IP ON AN INTERFACE.Proposal:
A reminder or a warning on top of page when changing ip on interface would be nice.// Assar
PS!
Thanks for a VERY nice FW. pfSense rocks.
Continue the nice work!!!!! -
You actually get a message when you change the IP on the LAN interface.
Although not on the various OPT interface. -

Did not try to change the LAN interface since it's frequently used.
Is this feature addable to other obscure interfaces to?
