      When a new release of pfSense comes out, package updates are still offered to the older version of pfSense which sometimes are incompatible and break the package.

      Or, worse, the package installs newer dependencies that really break things.

      Suggestion;
      Have package version numbers linked to a minimum pfSense version number.

      Example;
      If FRR version 0.60_2 requires pfSense 2.4.4-p3, then on any pfSense version below 2.4.4-p3 it will not show as an available update (or it shows up as light grey with a warning) making it impossible to apply package update until the pfSense version is correct.
