Standard install 2.4.5 no internet
-
Hello,
I have just bought a pfsense box which had pfsense 2.4.3 installed. I updated to 2.4.5 straight away.
The WAN port is connected to my home router and set to DHCP (gives 192.168.1.92).
The LAN port is connected to a managed 8 port switch which at the moment is set to route any port to any port for testing. Among other things my PC is connected to the 8 port switch. I'll add a photo if possible.
pfsense interface is standard 192.168.1.1 on LAN. Firewall rules are standard I think with the anti lockout rule and the IPv4 rule.
From reading various articles most say that the standard 'out of the box' set up will allow anything on LAN side to access the internet. However I cannot access the internet nor can I reach the LAN web interface. I have to connect the 8 port switch to the home router to get any connectivity which I guess is just bypassing the box.
Can anyone suggest what I am doing wrong. I am new to all of this so simple explanations please.
This is the set up I have except for the extra cable from 8 port to ISP router so that I can reach the internet.
The idea is to ultimately separate the IoT stuff from my other equipment but I am just testing at the moment.

pfSense works just out of the box, yes.
BUT you can't have the same network (in your case 192.168.1.0/24) on WAN and LAN, this will break your routing. Renumber either the WAN oder LAN side.-Rico

@Rico Hi Rico,
Thank you.
I tried changing the LAN IP from the web configurator but that just locked me out.
I reset to factory default from the CLI set it up again and everything is working fine now.
