      Hi.
In this week i update two pfsense systems and a error occur two times.
The error is in boot, where the kernel is not found.
The update is from console from a 2.4.1 and everything is done right until first reboot.
In first reboot, i got /etc/rc.bootup not found and many others scripts and bin. In second boot, the kernel is not found. The server was reboot by the script it self.

Please, verify this cases because two times i made in different systems, two times got error and the consequence is breakup the isolation to solve problem. The impression i have is something between mbr and gpart to record the boot block.

        Hi,

        2.4.1 ? The one from 3 years old ?
That's dangerous. Security wise - and from the fact that installing a simple package that contains core lib upgrades (PHP7.x etc) can break everything.

You executed step 0 : a boot just before starting the upgrade. https://www.netgate.com/blog/pfsense-2-4-5-release-now-available.html
Any issues at this point will indicate bad starting position ... like a hosed file system.

Step 1 was : you backed up the config.
Don't bother repairing, take the short cut that will help ou out in 5 minutes : download a copy, build the bootable USB stick and install "from scratch". Activate WAN by hand using the GUI. Import settings. Done.
See the manual for the entire procedure.

No "help me" PM's please. Use the forum, the community will thank you.
Edit : and where are the logs ??
