Does the SG-3100 come with a copy of it's firmware in case you need to reinstall?

@Mark_07 You should check with support, or put up another post here on the forum, to check and make sure a 240GB M.2 drive is fully supported on the SG-3100. It might be too big, not physical size, but capacity size. It's definitely overkill for pfsense storage, but would leave you with plenty of room for storing log file kinds of stuff.

@akuma1x Yep good shout, i actually might go for the 120GB but i'll reach out to support to confirm
-
And I've already had a response, drive is compatible :)
Also sorry for the thread hijack!

@Mark_07 Awesome! That's good news. Enjoy the extra space you'll have on that SG-3100.

@akuma1x thanks! It's mainly be for logs but I might look at getting a bit of squid cache on there
-
@Mark_07 Just be aware, that since most of the internet is now behind HTTPS encryption, that doesn't get cached by Squid. It can't see it, it can't read it, it can't cache it.
Just google "https squid cache", there's a ton of hits for it. Some hacks to get it working, maybe, but I think most people simply give up.

@akuma1x Thanksfor the heads up, i'm aware of the SSL issues, i'm mainly using it from clamav :)

@akuma1x Sorry, just noticed all the responses to the thread. I'm mainly asking out of curisosity.
The 32GB built-in version should be plenty for me, but I can see myself wanting to upgrade in the future to either a larger or faster M.2 drive if I start using a lot of packages.

Just to let you know I installed my M.2 install went perfectly fine :)

@Mark_07 Did you format and reinstall pfsense onto the new M.2 drive? Otherwise, it will still boot and run from the internal on-board storage.

Yeah you kind of have to, it sets the SSD as the default boot device once it's installed. Disk is showing 108GB

@Mark_07 Nice!
