Opt1 and LAN setup.
-
Hi,
I currently have 3 ports configured, WAN via PPPOE, and LAN. The 3rd is my VPN but isn't a physical port, it has the OpenVPN 'connection'.
This arrangement has allows Internet connection and the LAN port to work but all LAN traffic routed via the VPN, in my case NordVPN.
What I'd like to do is set up a 3rd physical port or OPT1. As default the only 2 ports configured are WAN and LAN. I am very new to pfsense so not sure how to set up the additional opt1 port to allow traffic to the Internet from the WAN port. This port I'd like to have NOT on a VPN and just be a standard LAN port effectively. So far I have gone to interfaces>assign and added opt1 and enabled it with a static IP of 10.27.90.1/24
Could anyone assist me with what to do and how to do it please? -
Well I think I have sorted the problem, I seem to have Internet on my opt1 interface. What rule do I need to set up to allow communication between subnets?

Communication between subnets is working out of the box just with Firewall Rules.
Maybe we need to see your current configuration first because policy route traffic to other gateways (your VPN provider) can break internal routing if it is done wrong. ;-)-Rico

@Rico thanks, that makes sense. What information do you need?
