Any body got Daloradius to run on PFsense. Not to good with Linux. Know Mandriva command line commands, but not the same as BSD. Mabe somebody can help or even do a howto?

pfSense provides the option to install FreeRADIUS.

We do what we must, because we can.

This is true, but Daloradius has got the web interfase that goes with free radius, for accounting and some billing.

I had testbed a while back with daloradius setup on a linux box and pfsense's captive portal enabled and auth with the same linux box, also running radius/mysql.

I then set captive portal to use radius mac authentication method, then on linux box hosting radius/mysql/daloradius, I created user and entered mac address for user/pass (i cant remember it all now it was quite a while ago), then fired up client on captive portal interface and it worked fine and could browse the net, tried from different machine those mac wasnt auth, was prompted with login page as expected.

I never thought about installing it on pfsense, though I suppose its possible, but bear in mind, you need an external mysql server and also an external radius server (unless the existing radius package can be compiled with mysql support).

I also noticed cakephp has been added to pfsense 2.0, there is something similar to daloradius but uses cakephp framework http://hotcakes.sourceforge.net/ but that might be an overkill for some people.

CakePHP has not been added to 2.0 yet … it is in my personal clone of 2.0 that I am working on right now.

                    Cheers,
