      Hi there,
just before evaluating pfSense I'd like to clear some questions in my mind:

      • Does it support VLAN tagging on interface aliases?
      • Whether the above is not possible, can I assign multiple VLANs on a single NIC and assign the relative VLAN IPs? (like in the dot1q linux driver)
      • Can I put pfSense between 2 VLANs and filter the traffic between the vlans?

All of this would be great to know.

      Thank you for your help.

      Cheers,
      Fabio

pfSense doesn't support interface alias in version 1.0, however this is already present in head.

You can add multiple VLANs to a physical interface. Each VLAN will become a seperate interface providing all the options/services you have for a real physical interface (unique IP/subnet, filtering, dhcpserver, …).
