I have a Nintendo Switch, using a USB ethernet adapter. I am trying to assign a static IP, but my router simply ignores it and continues to issue it An IP from the pool. The router even acknowledges that it’s online, but the Nintendo confirms it’s using the pool IP. I’ve rebooted the router, updated to 2.4.5, restarted the Nintendo, everything I can think of. The Mac address is definitely correct. What am I missing?

      Thanks for your help.

When you assign a static address, you don't use one from the DHCP range. However, why are you even doing that? If you want a consistent address, use a host override to assign an IP address to the MAC address.

        I haven't lost my mind. It's around here...somewhere...

I’m not using one from the DHCP range. I’ve given it 10.0.0.38 and it’s choosing something over 10.0.0.100.

I may be unaware of another method of doing this, judging by your response. I’ve never had any trouble assigning static mappings to MAC addresses before. How should I go about your method?

On the DNS resolver or forwarder page, create host overrides.

I may have been unclear about something, and if so I apologize. What I’m really trying to do is assign a DHCP reservation from outside the dynamic pool. It has always worked before.

It just started working. Not sure why.

That's how it normally works. pfSense will not allow you to assign an address from within the pool.
