System log entries from 2 time zones?
-
Hi all,
Noob here. I'm looking at the system log, and it seems to be stamping entries for certain things with the time in my configured time zone, but ALSO is recording and stamping entries with what appears to be GMT.
Eg:
Jun 1 02:15:46 check_reload_status Reloading filter
Jun 1 02:15:46 php-fpm 84641 /system.php: NTPD is starting up.
May 31 20:15:28 root /etc/rc.d/hostid: WARNING: hostid: unable to figure out a UUID from DMI data, generating a new one
Jun 1 02:15:28 check_reload_status Syncing firewall
Is this normal?
Thanks,
Michael -
Which one is which? Also, what's the difference between your timezone and GMT?
BTW, Unix etc. keep time in GMT and then apply the offset to display local time.

@jknott
The ones dated June 1 are GMT. The May 31st one is my correct time zone. I'm in Mountain Savings Time (Canada).m
