New Netgate SG-3100 could not install packages
-
Hello,
Just bought a Netgate SG-3100 and a 32GB M.2. I have instructed them to install the SSD and assuming the OS was installed on that. When it arrived, I was able to initially set it up. I can also see that the disk is showing correctly as what I bought. However, I am facing a strange issue. I am unable to install any package at all. It always shows "Unable to retrieve package information". Initially, I also saw some package that was installed like AWS VPC VPN and one for IOS which it says its out of date. I have reinstalled those 2 packages and it throws an error "No route to host". So I performed hard reset on the appliance. After hard reset, these packages are no longer seen there in Installed Packages. But after trying to install the package it is now stuck in "Please wait while the update system initializes".
I can say my skills are average and I did not expect this kind of problem on new product. The reason why I bought directly from Netgate rather than building it by myself is that I thought it will be seamless but I was wrong.
It will be good to have at least 2-3 days of support directly from Netgate for the first time setup so in this case people are not stuck fiddling with a new appliance that does not work. Do you have similar problems on your appliance and can share how you solved it? Thanks in advance.

What do you have your DNS servers set to on your pfsense box?
Does your new 3100 work with anything else besides the package stuff - websites, email, internet backups, video streaming, etc?

Hey @akuma1x , I am using the standard one provided by my ISP at the moment.
I am now using AP connected to PFSsense which is fine on connecting to WAN side. -
@depam Is your wifi truly set to "access point", like you say, or is it a wifi router that you have connected to pfsense, and you are just using it's wifi to get to the internet?
If it's not set to true access point mode, you are probably double-natt'ed, and that might be causing you the trouble.
Can you test something else, not using the wifi you are talking about, like something wired directly into the pfsense box?

@akuma1x Sorry, yes its a router and AP at same time. But I am a bit confused. Shouldn't the pfsense update by itself as it is connected to WAN interface not from router AP I am in now. My connection is ISP Modem --> Pfsense --> Wireless Router/AP. Now I am connected to this Wireless Router/AP and no problem so far.
Now, I just saw a failed package install

And I just tried to download this on my own machine and works.. It seems only PFSense is not able to get this for some unknown reason. Hope someone can help out

You can test ping, DNS, etc. from the pfSense using the Diagnostics menu.

Hello!
Maybe check the Interfaces -> WAN -> Block private networks and loopback addresses option and make sure it in unckecked...?

Before doing anything, try again now. There was a problem with the package servers earlier today.
