Getting a solid wifi connection in a bungalow made of metal

Okay right so my wifi in my bungalow is pretty shite, key points everyone should know
there's around 8-12 devices connected to wifi in the house
we have a dual band router
wifi extender connected in bungalow
ping spikes > 5000ms
have played around with wifi channels
speed test to 5ghz 131mbs/2.4GHz 30mbs
extender is connected to wifi
we do a have Ethernet wall socket installed but cannot connect to a laptop plugged straight in
