Recent config changes keep being lost
-
I have an odd problem with my SG1100. It is running v2.4.5-RELEASE at present, although I plan to update it shortly. What keeps happening is that I make a configuration change, save it, confirm that it has been applied, then log out. Some time later (ranging from 6 hours to five days) That change suddenly doesn't exist anymore. There do not seem to be any log entries about it being removed, and the only traces I can find of those changes ever existing is log entries of their creation. This happens to both packages and the core system. For example, last month I installed Snort. I got it up and running, and is started dumping some data to the logs. Then a week later I went to check on it to see what reports it had generated, and found it didn't exist anymore. The package did not show as installed, and the logs showed that it had run for about four days, then stopped posting log entries. Then just today, I enabled an interface (the "OPT" port), enabled DHCP on it, and set a pass rule for it in the firewall. Everything was working correctly, so I went on to other things. After six hours, I went back to make one small adjustment, and found that it was again disabled, the firewall rule was gone, and the DHCP server for that port was disabled. The system log does not seem to show anything of use, but I will attach it to this anyway, in case anyone would like to take a look. It contains all system log entries from the time I know my changes were saved, to the time I discovered them missing. I was making edits to my firewall aliases durring part of this time, but nothing else. (Relevant System log here)
In some cases, I've needed to make the same change three times before it sticks, and I'm getting pretty annoyed. I do have the offical netgate backup service running, so this time I'm thinking I'll see if there is a recent one I can restore from, which might still have these changes. Then again, maybe the backup service is somehow the problem...
Does anyone have any idea what might be going on? I'm getting tired or redoing work and pulling out hair.
Update: I was able to get back my config changes by restoring the XML backup from 4 hours earlier. I still would like to know why this keeps happening though.
