      I have a lan of 172.17.X.X/24 - I have a fax server behind that network and need to have a virtual fax card use a public address so when it presents itself to the SIP provider they see the public address.

      Can this be done securely?

      Thanks

        If you forward a port into a device the security is only as strong as the device you are forwarding to.

        DO NOT set a source address/port in a port forward or firewall rule unless you KNOW you need it!

          @bryanrh

          we also use VOIP / vfax behind a VPN
          so the VOIP provider sees our VPN address (Express VPN data center IP range)

          Cats bury it so they can't see it!
