Hi i am new to pfsense

i installed Pfsense on Proxmox, and i have 2 NICs one is WAN the other one is going to a UNIFY Switch that has some PCs, and one UAP AP, this a lab setup for now but will go into my new home....

very wired one of the PCs(my main one) is alwys getting a DNS error , all seems ok but when you try to ping or go anywhere all freeze

how whuld you debug such a thing? what logs to look in?
      thanks!

What is the DNS error you're seeing?

What is that client using for DNS? Is it being passed the pfSense LAN IP by DHCP (the default setup)?

Other clients connected to the same switch, in the same subnet do not see this issue?

        Steve

i did not setup any block rules and even if i did the above release renew will not give me even

If it's only that one, then the problem is either the client or you have a rule that affects only it. However, since it works briefly, it's not a rule. It might help if you provide some more info or even do a packet capture.

Is that client using Ethernet? WiFi? Can you ping an IP address instead of host name? What happens if you try a different switch port?

PfSense running on Qotom mini PC
i5 CPU, 4 GB memory, 32 GB SSD & 4 Intel Gb Ethernet ports.

            I haven't lost my mind. It's around here...somewhere...

Can that client still ping the pfSense internal IP address?

              Can it ping 8.8.8.8?
