      Hello,

I've been using pfsense for years, and suddenly my Wan stopped working.
Yesterday it stopped working from nowhere.

So I did some troubleshooting, I tried changing DNS etc, changing cables, put a switch in between pfsense and my coax cable ISP.
I did a complete factory reset if one of my configurations was wrong?!

But nothing, so I checked ARP and thats when I noticed that if I remove/delete the WAN gateway ARP, it starts working again. (I might have timed it, 300 sec then it drops again).

I also tried other software, some worked, some didnt.

Does anyone have an idea why it wont work or do you know a work-around?

      edit:
I manually put in "net.link.ether.inet.max_age: 200" under system tunables.

        So...
manually put in "net.link.ether.inet.max_age: 200" under system tunables seems to work.

Is this gonna be a problem?

The gateway MAC seems to be a VRRP or CARP. Do you use CARP on your site as well?

Does the MAC change, after removing the ARP entry?

CARP is for a high availability setup, where at least two routers are sharing a virtual MAC.

So it's strange that it resumes working though.
