I am new to this system and wanted to ask some of you pros here if there is anything special i need to know about this system. I havent done anything to it yet so its essentially in a "out of the box state" . I have setup the software on my own equipment and its running fine the main reason for it is to block any Dos attacks while i play games online and to block ads. I did notice Somethings like my Phillips hue lights dont work but im assuming its because it needs and exception put in. Thank you guys for your time.

@natethegreat21 welcome to the club.
A good place to start is by going through the pfSense book.
https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/book/index.html
It's a great source of information. Even when reading through sections you think don't apply to you, it can surprise you and still teach you something that might be useful.These forums are full of information and helpful people. Knowing how to search through the forum can often answer most of your questions. Sometimes, I use google to search when I'm not having as much luck with the forum's built in search.
For example, go to google and use the following,
site:forum.netgate.com "search for something"
Obviously, remove the quotes and put whatever you're searching in there. This will harness google's powers to search this forum only.

Hi Raffi,
I have not heard about you in a while...
I know "html" version is the best
but for travel:

@natethegreat21 " while i play games online"
UPnP & NAT-PMP - just treat it carefully, this is the enemy of NGFW
https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/services/configuring-upnp-and-nat-pmp.html
++++edit:
it is only worth running on an interface which is configured for separate - for game, if there is an option and free eth. port -

Hi Raffi,
I have not heard about you in a while...Hey DaddyGo! I'm still around. I have been more busy at work so I haven't been able to come out to play as much. I have been browsing the forum but not posting as much.
I completely forgot about the youtube channel. I personally haven't check out the channel, but I probably should.

When @DaddyGo offers help, take him up on it. He's the man. His guide helped get my xbox and ps4 working without issues.

I did the same...
(there was no ocean shore this year, though it is 12 Km from me)when they finally became looser a bit in the EU the COVID restrictions, I was on the road for almost a month (25 days)
we quickly traversed our devices which are in the rented places different data centers in four countries
we were lucky because almost all the countries were closed again and again it is difficult to travel by plane... the world is like that now@Raffi_ "I completely forgot about the youtube channel."
Do not be sad.... otherwise it can be used well, and the Lawrence Systems youtube channel, which is pfSense themed
the rest of pfSense youtube guide for me is vague and doubt -

Things are crazy for sure. Stay safe.
nd the Lawrence Systems youtube channel
I have seen a bunch of Lawrence's videos. They are great for a lot of pfSense and Ubiquiti stuff.
