      Hello,

I have the current version of pfSense installed on a Qotom box, working well. I just noticed there is no “Switch” selection under the “Interfaces” tab. It is connected (via 4 physical ports) to a Unifi Pro 24p switch.

      Just interested in why ?

      BRgds/Alan

        You are talking about this?

AFAIK that is only available for Netgate hardware with integrated Switches, not pfSense CE.

Yup, exactly that. The Switches menu is only shown on appliances with built-in switches.

I too am missing this menu item on my pfsense CE.

Do you mean that my chinese pfsense box doesn't have this integrated switch feature???

seems like such a minor feature to omit for a 300 - 400$ item...

or is it unlocked if i go to some paid version of netgate...
              just wondering

@kevin-2 That menu is specific to certain Netgate appliances with a Marvell switch built in (I think 2100, 3100, 7100 models). Devices with separate network interfaces don't support this.

                  What hardware are you using?
If it has independent NICs with one Ethernet socket each then they are assigned via the “Assignment” menu.

You both didn't understood the question 😊

@Kevin-2 saw already that there is a condition : the menu shows up on netgate hardware. I do presume he didn't only read "No “Switch” selection under “Interfaces” " but also the answers (did I presume to much ?).

He said he was using the pfSense CE version.
That version doesn't contain the 'witches' menu, as it is meant to be used on non Netgate appliances.
Netgate appliances come with the pfSense version that contains the 'switches' menu, as these devices might (?) contain the "switch hardware".

Is he using pfSense CE on a Netgate appliance ?

Edit : and where are the logs ??

Yeah, the Switches menu is there to configure the physical switch IC built in to some Netagte devices. It's not a software feature that can be applied to any random 3rd party hardware.
