Slow WAN, Fast LAN
-
I'm having trouble with my internet connection that I'd been attributing to Verizon until today. I have FiOS gig fiber and, if I plug my computer straight into the ONT (yes, firewall enabled), I get the full expected speed. Same story from my pfSense router using the speedtest.net CLI package (minus some loss from multiple old cables running through the walls). When I SCP a sample file across the network, I get a healthy 70 MBps, so no real loss there. But when I run a speed test from any device behind my router, I consistently get only 12 Mbps. Same goes for downloading a sample file with curl. Fast on the router, slow on any devices behind it.
I'm using speedtest.net for all of the speed test. The Verizon speed test always claims full speed, then times out at the end. I don't know what to make of that.
My router is a PC Engines APU2 box running pfSense 2.4.5. Any thoughts on what might be going wrong or what tests I could run to find out? I'd appreciate any help you can offer.

Any Limiters, QoS or something like this running?
Worst case would be to try with vanilla pfSense.-Rico

You have the latest APU2 BIOS installed?

@volfied There is also a similar thread on this which has been posted on fairly recently.

Maybe try going through some of that or see if the OP eventually got to the bottom of it and perhaps did not post back? -
Rico >> No traffic shaping that I'm aware of. Just a couple "By Interface" options set to "B/W share of a backlogged queue". I presume those are default settings.
Raffi >> I don't have the latest BIOS. I'll give that a try. Ought to be fun. I'll also look into this other thread. Thanks.

So it was traffic shaping after all. What looked like defaults to me must have been the wizard’s work from ages ago when I was trying to do QoS for one specific machine. Thanks for your responses!
