I have a ALIX2D3 board. I installed pfSense okay. It works. I booted it up and logged into the webGUI. However, my configuration does not seem to be working. I cannot connect to the Internet. I am a little confused about how to configure it. I have a modem from the ISP that I have put into Bridge mode. I have a dynamic IP but I want the LAN IPs to be static. How do I configure this thing? I look at so many badly written tutorials. There scattered info on more advanced topics all over the web but not a simple well written tutorial on the configuration after going through the webGUI wizard.

      Please help…

Which version of pfSense?  When youu connect to the web interface, does it have a WAN IP address?

I have the latest stable version 1.2.2. I just downloaded it two days ago.
It doe not have a WAN IP address it says 0.0.0.0 (DHCP).
There was a time that it had a WAN IP address but it was from the private range.
I was thinking that I should be seeing something like when I go to the websites like "whatismyipaddress.com" which would be a public IP address.

If you're seeing a WAN IP of 0.0.0.0 then you don't have a WAN IP.

Check that you have a link for the WAN port.  If you plug in a Windows PC, does that get an IP address?  I'd suspect a problem with the modem or network cable at this point.

I got it! I had to configure it for PPPoE not DHCP. Now it is working great!
