-
Hi All,
Sorry if am posting a wrong request here.
I have HG612 3B modem, could login using the admin, my first question do I need any configuration in the modem itself or not required! prior pfSense install?
I have planned to setup like one below
From Wall=>HG612 (Modem)
HG612(Lan2)=ServerESXi eth0 ( WAN )
ServerESXi eth1(LAN)=>Switch(CiscoSwitch)
CiscoSwitch=>WifiAccessPoint
Hope this will work, any one please correct If I am wrongISP vodafone have the ppoe details.
Please let me know if this should or I am going wrong.
Thanks

Hi,
You shouldn't need to do anything with the modem as Vodafone uses Openreach's network, so not sure why you've logged on.
You should connect your cable from the wall socket to the DSL port on the modem, and then connect the LAN 1 port to your router via Ethernet cable.
PPPoE settings get configured on your router.

Hi,
Vodafone uses the Openreach network so you don't need to do anything on the modem. If you're using the modem as just a modem, then you don't need to do any configuration. You don't need to unlock it or crack it - as long as your broadband provider uses the same network as Openreach, which I believe Vodafone do. You don't need to do any config on it as it's acting as just a modem. A modem is a dumb device. All it does is convert analogue signals in to digital ones, you don't need to set any default gateways or remove old config. They are plug and play devices.

Hi ts1101,
Good Day, Many thanks for the details again on this. I would agree with you with out any question.
Prior unlocking, I could see its goes to BT Site for pay as you go subscription hence I don't want to take any chance i.e only by connecting lan2 port no phone line connected to it!.Some more setting pending with regards to WiFi access point need to keep them ready before hand.
Will keep you updated.Thanks
